The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Professor Uche Ikonne has flagged off the 10th edition of the annual distribution of subsidized fertilizers for Abia farmers through Abia Grassroot Movement by Izybest Group of companies.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution of the fertilizers, Professor Ikonne paid glowing tribute to the Program manager
of Abia Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) who doubles as the BOT Chairman of Abia Grassroot Movement, Chief Israel Amanze (Izybest) for his initiative of giving back to the society, noting that Agriculture is the basement of development of any nation.
Professor Ikonne louded the Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, for his several commendable agricultural initiatives as well as enabling environment which he said has enhanced agricultural productivity in the state.
He disclosed that his administration, by God’s grace will consolidate on the positive gains of the present administration for a better agricultural revolution in the state.
He promised timely supply of fertilisers to farmers when elected as governor if the state.
He also used the opportunity to encourage all eligible voters to go get there PVC’s , as it is their passport for a better Abia.
Earlier in his remarks, the program Manager Abia ADP/BOT Chairman Abia Grassroot Movement Chief Israel Amanze, Oke Orji Abia appreciated the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State Professor Uche Ikonne, for honoring their invite despite his busy schedule.
According to him, his commitment in making fertilizers affordable for farmers has its driving force from the support and robust agricultural policy of the governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, with a promise to continue his support for Professor Ikonne’s gubernatorial bid.
In a vote of thanks the State Chairman Abia Grassroots Movement Engr Bony Ume thanked Prof Ikonne as well as the large array of dignitories that attended the event for identifying with Abia Grassroots and thanked members if Abia Grassroots for their Patience and perseverance.
The event which drew up large crowd of farmers from many local govt areas featured the presentation of Soil Testing kits from Nigerian Institute of Soil Science, presentation and distribution of gifts from Indorama Eleme Fertilisers Company as well as cultural displays
The DG Uche Ndi Abia 2023 Rt. Hon Chinedum Elechi, DDG Abia South Chief Ibe Nwadioha, the PDP House of Assembly Candidate for Isiala Ngwa South Hon. Rowland Ceaser, Chief Isaac Ogbonna Akurulo, Chief Ike Onyenweaku,, Chief Solomon Nwaigwe, Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa,Dr. Ehiemere, Dr. Ikechukwu Nwakuche, amongst other dignitaries, accompanied Prof. Ikonne to the flag off.
