RE: FELLED ELECTRICITY POLES AND OTHER ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT AT UMUAJAMEZE – UMUOKPARA, UMUAHIA SOUTH LGA.

1.) The Honourable Member, Hon. Obi Aguocha, on Tuesday 23rd April 2024, visited Umuajameze, Umuokpara, to inspect the extensive damages recently caused in their community by the last torrential rain fall.

2.) The Honourable member visited the community under the behest of citizens Prof Godwin Emezuo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University and Chima Egege among others, natives of Umuajameze.

3.) During the inspection, the Honourable member observed several damages, including at the injection sub-station, thirteen (13) felled High Tension electricity poles, in and around the community, which has rendered the community in darkness and still without electricity power. He also noted the presence of dedicated and hard-working feeder line staffs of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) already on the ground to make safe the felled lines and clearing up of the storms debris.

4.) In his response, the Honourable member, concomitantly in consultation with the community leadership and stakeholders, and of close collaboration with EEDC has obliged to the full and immediate repair of all the felled poles, other ancillary services and the restoration of electricity power at no cost to the Umuajameze, Umuokpara Community.

5.) Repair works are already ongoing at the time of this media release, and power has been restored back to the injection sub-station pending the pole/wire repairs.
