The recently conducted All Progressives Congress, APC primary election for the office of the governor of Ondo state, has been described as a sham, and therefore should be cancelled

Majority of the aspirants claim that the exercise was married by huge irregularities with already prepared results declared well ahead of the elections proper

Fingers are being pointed at the national chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje, who is alleged to have stage managed the exercise in favour of the incumbent governor, Chief Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was declared winner with about one hundred and forty eight thousand, 148,000, votes to beat other twentyone aspirants

Already majority of the agreived members of the party in Ondo state have rejected the results claiming that the figures were fixed from Abuja

Speaking to the media, to express his disappointment with the exercise, one Chief Michael Abegunde, who resides in Akure, the state capital, said, that no voting took place in most of the wards across the states, but, results were declared for the incumbent governor as winner
According to him, ” this is a charade and disgrace to the party, it should not stand”

He warned that should the national headquarters fail to cancel the exercise and order for a fresh primary, the party will pay darelly at the governorship election proper, as members might cast protest votes for the oposition

Meanwhile, reports at our disposal have revealed that the national headquarters has waded in as it attempts to pacify the aspirants and their supporters who have rejected the results

Last night it was gathered that an emergency meeting was called between the headquarters and aspirants with the aim of appealing to them to accept the exercise and give their support to the incumbent governor
But feelers at the meeting hinted that the meeting achieved very little, as most of the aspirants in attendance stuck to their guns to reject the results and called for another primary election
