Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has described as shocking and most devastating the death of Senator Ayogu Eze.
Senator Abaribe in a statement by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom in Abuja on Friday said Senator Eze was ‘the issue’ when he held forth as the Senate spokesman in the sixth senate adding that indeed his death has depleted the class of very erudite Senators in Nigeria.
“His performance as a very active lawmaker and one time image maker of the Senate still looms large, because he distinguished himself very well in every aspect of the lawmaking process in the sixth and seventh session “, Senator Abaribe said
Senator Abaribe who represents Abia South said Senator Ayogu Eze never conjured any dull moment in and outside the Senate chambers adding that he exuded such activism and charismatic candour that endered him to his colleagues across the aisle.
“It is most disheartening that he has to die now, when he and his ilk’s wise counselling are needed in our dear country. He was a consummate democrat, astute politician and a journalist of the intellectual hue.
“He will always be remembered for his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, quality representation of his people as a parliamentarian and of course his well acknowledged contributions in the advancement of political culture in his dear Enugu State. He will be sorely missed”, Senator Abaribe added.
Accordingly, Senator Abaribe extends his condolences to the bereaved family, the Senate, Government and people of Enugu State.
