Senator Nkechi Nwaogu PhD CON has expressed sadness over the passing away of the first civilian Governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science and Technology under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.
She described the deceased as a visionary politician and a renowned academic guru who contributed immensely towards the development of the South East and Nigeria in general.
Senator Nwaogu acknowledged the enormous contributions of the former Abia State Governor to National integration.
In a condolence message, Senator Nwaogu said, “the demise of the former minister is a huge loss to Ndigbo and Nigeria in general. “The late elderstatesman was a focused and respected politician, and an experienced academic don who was committed to nation building.
Nwaogu maintained that the deceased will be remembered as the father of Abia renaissance.
While praying for God to grant him eternal rest, the distinguished law maker encouraged the Onu family to take solace in the fact that Dr Ogbonnaya Onu lived a life worthy of emulation.
