Pandemonium and fear has enveloped Umuojima village of Osisioma Ngwa this evening as kidnappers, numbering about six, allegedly abducted a popular Umuojima-born businessman, Chibuzor Moses, at the premises of St Clement’s Anglican Church, Umuojima junction, Osisioma Ngwa.
The victim ran into the church premises on being accosted by the kidnappers who had laid siege on him. But, in a bid to resist and foil the kidnap, Mr Moses struggled for several minutes with the abductors who were well-armed. Eyewitnesses said that while struggling, Mr Moses was heard shouting Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Unfortunately, no help came his way, as he was later overpowered by his abductors.
After successfully abducting the victim, the kidnappers fled in their ash-coloured Toyota Highlander through Umuokiri Road. It is believed that they were headed towards Ekeakpara village.
At the time of filing this report, no contact has been established with the family of the victim.
