Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has noted with great delight the fact that for the first time in over 35 years, it has become possible to drive from No 1 Eziukwu Road direct into the Eziukwu-Cemetary Market through Ama Ogbonna and No 1 Azikiwe Road, courtesy of the ongoing road construction in that area by his administration.

The Governor drove himself on that stretch of road this evening and stopped right inside the market to the delight and cheers from the traders.

However, the Governor is gravely disappointed that despite the clear demonstration of the resolve by his administration to completely recover that road and make life easier for our people, especially those who do business at the Eziukwu-Cemetary Market, , some very irresponsible and extremely unscrupulous individuals are bent on sabotaging the efforts of government in this direction through the setting up of Car Washing Spots in the middle of the road, especially around Eziukwu by Azikiwe Road.

The Governor is particularly concerned that even as earth works and stone basing were being done around that area in readiness for asphalting, these persons persist in these illegal car washing activities which clearly affect the ongoing works there.

These acts of sabotage and irresponsibility must stop immediately.

Government will unleash its full paraphernalia of law enforcement against any person or group of persons who dares to continue the washing of cars around that area.

All those involved in these acts are by this notice warned to leave that area immediately. From tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, any person caught washing cars around that area will be promptly arrested and the vehicle impounded and confiscated.

The Governor hereby directs the General Manager of the Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency of Abia State (TIMAAS), the leadership of the Abia State Envoronmetal Protection Agency (ASEPA), working together with the Executive Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area and the Nigeria Police to immediately relocate to that area and ensure full, total and immediate compliance with the above directive.

Any vehicle impounded as a consequence of the above should be moved to the premises of the Central Police Station Aba and demobilized till further notice.

Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
