The Federal Capital Territory’s Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, narrated how an 18 year-old suspect and his friends caused the death of a bolt driver named Obasi Okeke in Abuja.
CP Haruna Garba said, “the (18 year-old) suspect and his friends made a fake transfer to the bolt driver when they got to their destination. Immediately they realized that the bolt driver noticed them, they played smart on him by killing him through stabbing. Our men later saw the driver in a pool of blood. They actually slit his throat on that day. We will however charge them to court after thorough investigation.”
The 18 year-old suspect narrated what happened saying, “on that day, when we got to our destination, the bolt driver suddenly increased his fare from two thousand five hundred naira that we had earlier agreed. When we began arguing, he attempted to bring something out of his car. I felt he wanted to attack me so I brought out my knife and stabbed him.”
A friend to the prime suspect also said, “I was there when my friend stabbed the bolt driver. After we got to our final destination, they engaged in an argument which led to his being stabbed. Their argument was that the driver doubled the price they earlier agreed upon. The bolt trip we took was actually an offline type.”
The CP concluded that two among the three suspects (Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun) were suspended students of Bingham university in Abuja
