Prof. Eleazar Uche Ikonne, The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Candidate has congratulated Geometric Power Limited and the Nigerian navy for the restoration of electricity to Aba/Owerrinta in Abia state, Nigeria.
Prof. Ikonne expressed happiness with the rate Geometric Power Limited, which only secured its franchise this February commenced operations and in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy restored power to Aba-Owerrinta axis which has been in darkness for two years.
he stated that he is not unmindful of the technical and bureaucratic bottlenecks faced by Geometric Power Limited upon take-off, but assured that the indigenous energy company will definitely make a major impact in the state.
He thanked Prof. Barth Nnaji, the chairman of Geometric Power Limited for this historic breakthrough in energy solutions in Abia/Owerrinta axis and stated that if elected he will partner with Geometric Power Limited to ensure improved power supply across the whole of Abia.
He stated that under his watch energy production will be taken very seriously as it is the engine that drives industrialization, noting that his vision of moving Abia State from a consumption economy to a robust production economy will be realized through strong policy on energy and government support.
He commended the navy for displaying statesmanship in community service for a healthy relationship with the host community and thanked the Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for his untiring effort and support in making sure that Geometric Power Limited got all it needed in terms of financing and government backing which enabled it to secure the franchise to provide electricity in nine out of the seventeen Local Government Areas of the state.
