The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir G. C. ONYENDILEFU, has expressed shock because of the ghastly Motor accident that involved the TC Chairman Isiala Ngwa South LGA and a commuter bus along Enugu- Port Harcourt Express way(Cherubim axis Mbutu Ngwa) According to a Press Statement personally signed by him dated October 20th 2019, he thanked God for the quick recovery of Hon. Ike Anyataonwu and pray God to grant the dead victims eternal rest and their families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and the injured casualties a quick recovery.

I read with shock the fatal road accident involving the Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA Chief Ike Anyatonwu, and others, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, precisely at Cherubim, near Umuikaa junction in Isiala Ngwa LGA. for saving the lives of Chief Anyatonwu and few others i, however, sympathize with the families whose loved ones could not survive the accident.
May I use this medium to thank, specially, the Executive Governor of Abia State who, in his usual magnanimity, has already identfied with the victims of the accident. He did not only pick the hospital bills but also instructed the honorable Commissioner for Health to ensure the victims are transferred to a better health facility where they will be adequately cared for.
The diligent intervention of our dear brother, Dr Rowland Alozie, whose hospital has often been the stop gap to so many road accidents along that route is worthy of appreciation. Not to forget the courageous passers by whose milk of kindness resulted in the quick rescue mission that obviously reduced the fatality rate.
As we continue to pray for the quick recovery of Chief Anyatonwu and others, who are still at different stages of recuperation, may I enjoin the road users to please be patient and careful while driving along the highways, especially, these Yuletide season.
In the same vien I call on the Federal Government to expedite the rehabilitation of the Enugu -Port Harcourt Expressway to forestall aviodable road accidents that has become the bane of the road users along that route.
