I have lived in fear throughout my stay in Nigeria.. I am sure you do too. In fact, everyone does, but why?
Terrorist has always been a tool for creating fears in the populace!
1. Whether in Aso Rock (Abuja), Ebute-Meta (Lagos), Abuloma (Port-Harcourt), or Amchide and Bama (Borno), we are all very vulnerable.
2. What makes us vulnerable is not only Boko Haram, ISWAP and deadly ‘herdsmen’, but also what I may call the *PEOPLE-HARAM.*
3. Who are the People-Haram? They are easy to identify: they play politics with insecurity, they tactically sympathize with the opposition armed groups (AOGs) by revealing the identity of potential prey to the AOGs; they also hide info needed to help fight criminality in their communities.
4. People-haram sometimes benefit from their acts, but they may do so our of ignorance, callousness, or extremism.
5. People-Haram are everywhere: they are in government among the security operatives, among the unarmed citizens; they can be politicians, or the Mai Sai on the street.
6. In few months time, I will tell you why insurgency and criminality may last more than one can ever imagine, if we fail to deal with people haram. I will do this based on established evidence and ask that we have to deal with both Boko Haram and People-Haram.
RIP to the lost souls this year!
