The Super Falcons of Nigeria proved pundits wrong by forcing their Canadian counterpart to a goalless draw at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium who are the defending Champions of Women Olympic football event.

The first half saw Assisat Oshoala denied by a watertight Canadian defense.

The start of the second half, Canadian legend found it hard to believe that she was denied from six yards by Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.

The falcons were reduced to ten ladies after VAR reviewed an offense by Abiodun in 96th minutes.

We should recall that the Nigeria ladies were lacking the services of Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimat Ayinde no thanks to a selfish and unfortunate refereeing at AWCON semi final match encounter against host nation Morocco. Another Midfield maestro, Ngozi Okobi was not invited.

Nigeria drawing against Olympic champions is a good result.

SUPER falcons of Nigeria next match is against co-host Australia on 27th July and 31st July at the Lang Park Stadium and by 11 am Nigerian time respectively.
