A group of youths under the aegis of Imo Dimma Youths, has rejected the congratulatory message issued by the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti to the Governor of Imo state,Sen Hope Uzodimma over his re-election,stating that the message is insincere and as well, shows the hypocritical nature of the Abia Governor.
Imo Dimma Youths which is a sociopolitical group of concerned Imo youths, vehemently rejected Abia State Governor’s insincere congratulatory message to Sen. Hope Uzodimma over his election victory, saying it is only hypocrisy that could make someone who planned one’s downfall, turnaround to send congratulatory messages after defeating him.
The group said that not only in Imo State was the Labour Party defeated but also in Abia State during the March 18th 2023, gubernatorial election.
Imo Dimma Youths further frowned at the nauseating pietism exhibited by the Abia State Governor, who they alleged personally sponsored many negative campaign attacks against the reelection of Senator Hope Uzodimma. “The Abia Governor visited Imo State State on several occasions where he threatened to remove Senator Hope Uzodimma from Douglas House, using the same method he deployed in Abia State.
“The Abia Governor said, if he did it in his state of Abia, he can also replicate same in Imo State”.
The group also stated that the landslide victory of Senator Hope Uzodimma is a testament of his people’s oriented policies in the lives of Imolites.
They stated that Dr. Alex Chioma Otti of Abia State in company of Mr. Peter Obi and sometimes alone during the Labour Party campaigns in the state, promised Imo people to sack Senator Hope Uzodimma and help elect Chief Athan Acholonu of Labour Party. “A promised he found difficult to fulfil on Election Day”.
The group in a Press release signed by their secretary, Comrade Ebere Ajoku, said they have it on good authority that one of the ways the Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti, fought the PDP government was bringing the NLC President, Comr Joe Ajaero few days to the general election to incite Abia state workers against the government. “Abia State Workers were forced to down tools few days to the 18th March, 2023, election. He believed that if it worked in Abia State, it would also work in Imo State”.
According to the Release, the group intimated that credible intelligence at their disposal exposed constant clandestine meetings before the governorship election between the Labour leader, Comr Joe Ajaero, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and Chief Athan Acholonu, the Labour Party candidate for the November 11th, off cycle election in Imo state.
The group opined that the Abia State strategy further explains why Comr Joe Ajaero stormed Imo State for Labour action without prior complaint from their State Chapter of NLC or notice to Imo Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma about any Labour dispute with imo NLC, but Mr Ajaero decided to carry out the planned political hatchet job for his Labour Party Governor in Abia State.
They said that the Abia State Governor has been rumoured to be behind the sponsorship of Imo Labour Party campaign and Mr. Peter Obi Court cases against President Tinubu. He has since denied the allegation but his actions point to the fact that he is using Abia State as rallying point to galvanise support against Federal government through the labour union.
The group noted that the Nigeria Labour Congress has embarked on a crippling nationwide strike caused by Comr Joe Ajaero’s failed plan with his Labour party Governor of Abia State to oust Senator Hope Uzodimma from seat which earned him serious battering from political thugs in imo State.
They advised that NLC should save Nigeria from further hardship by calling off the ill-timed strike action caused by the political miscalculation of Comr Joe Ajaero which got him into trouble in imo State. “The welfare of workers should be paramount to the NLC and not regime change”, they concluded.
