The Gubernatorial Candidate of Action Alliance for Imo State during the last general elections, Chief Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has reacted to the news making the rounds that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld his disqualification, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers and the enemies of those fighting in vain to frustrate the mandate of Imolites.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the former Chief of Staff to the former Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha noted that the matter is a pre-election matter which has no bearing with the proceeding of post election matters.

He went further to state that on the issue of double nomination, the matter has been technically settled because there was a court injunction that was brought forth during the APC primaries that made APC to submit the name of Senator Hope Uzodimma as her Gubernatorial Candidate and according to the existing electoral law, no party is allowed to field more than one candidate for the same elective position.

Chief Nwosu added that, though the matter is still in court, that his lawyers are already on top of the game, exploring all the jurisprudential apparatuses to see that justice is done. He bemoaned those hiding behind technicality to have a rethink as it would be an exercise in futility as no court of competent jurisdiction can grant them such prayers.

Ugwumba Uche Nwosu also reacted to the alleged withdrawal of Action Alliance from the suit noting that, what happened was that the Party that is the second petitioner to the suit, due to some reasons decided to allow him, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu to focus on the pursuit of the matter to avoid distractions.

” It’s unfortunate that the opposition twisted the matter and misrepresented the judgement of the Supreme Court as the apex court never ruled against my candidature because it has already confirmed even by the electoral petition tribunal.

Chief Nwosu pointed out that, he has already appealed the election petition tribunal judgement and the matter will soon be called up for hearing, assuring his teeming supporters that the matter will get to it’s logical conclusion wherein the mandate given to him by the good people of Imo state shall be restored.
