“With a heart of thanksgiving, I write to offer the compliments of my family and to express my deepest gratitude to you all – Distinguished Senators of the 10th Senate for the opportunity to have worked harmoniously with everyone as the Senator representing the good people of Abia Central Senatorial District and the privilege granted me to have served as the Distinguished Minority Whip of the 10th Senate.
“I recall with nostalgic excitement, the events that shaped my inspiring journey to the 10th Senate and the opportunity we have had to work together, designing innovative solutions to the myriad of Nigeria’s socioeconomic and political challenges through quality legislative governance and advancing the cause of the Nigerian project. Working with you all, Distinguished Colleagues, in the last six months since the inauguration of the 10th Senate on the 13th of June 2023, has been one of the proudest and greatest moments of my life and political career.
“In the 10th Senate, I found a unique family of patriotic Nigerians willing to make a difference. Indeed, I was pleasantly overwhelmed and touched by the incredible show of support, solidarity, and demonstrable display of love shown to me by our Distinguished Colleagues, during my trying moments, following the unfortunate decision of the National Assembly Election Petition Appeal Court that upturned my legitimate mandate and resounding electoral victory at the polls.
“Although, my patriotic journey in this august Assembly at this time, may have been abruptly cut short I am however, optimistic that the strong bridges we built for the stability of Nigeria, the alliances and friendships we forged to advance the frontiers of national unity, and the incredible family bond we created would remain evergreen and be accounted for in history books as legacies of true patriots.
As a human, I have fought a good fight to reclaim my legitimate mandate through the courts, up to the apex court of the land, I have kept the faith as a firm believer in the ‘work in progress’ of Nigeria’s democracy and I have committed everything in the hands of Almighty God.
“I would continue to serve God, man, humanity, my constituency, and the nation in other capacities for the moment. Please keep the fire of a robust and united Senate aglow, under the leadership of our amiable President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, and Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, CON. God Bless you .”
