The paramount head of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Eze Sir G.I Ezekwesiri (Ochi 1 of Isuochi) on behalf of the entire people of Umunneochi, has paid glowing tributes to the gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State, Professor Uche Ikonne, for choosing their Son, Barr. Okey Igwe as his running mate, for the 2023 Abia Governorship election.
The Revered traditional ruler while receiving Professor Uche Ikonne at his Ochi Royal Palace, in Umuelem, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, described Professor Ikonne as a Man of his words, citing his historical antecedents as Rector and Vice-Chancellor, where he discharged his duties creditably, and kept to his promises with the fear of God.
According to him “since the creation of Abia State, this is the first time a Governor, is choosing a running mate from our land”
His Majesty while giving his resounding royal blessings to Professor Uche Ikonne, conferred the prestigious “Okaa Omee Ndi Abia” title on him, noting that having served in various public offices, and discharged his duties creditably, he is well prepared and much qualified to become Governor of Abia State come 2023.
In the same vein, the Royal father also conferred on the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Barr. Okey Igwe, “Anya oha 1 of Umunneochi”.
Speaking earlier, Professor Ikonne while noting the peculiarities in the geographical location of Umunneochi and their character of human capacity, charged them to make good use of this golden opportunity.
He spoke on his agenda, how to improve security, economy, infrastructure, education, and health care, among other sectors, with a strong assertion that Umunneochi as a border community with four Eastern States, will serve as a gateway for development.
Professor Ikonne also at the visit, inaugurated the Umunneochi Uche Ndia Abia Campaign Organisation ward and Local Government officials, with a charge to galvanize support for the victory of PDP in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
In their separate contributions, the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Barr. Okey Igwe, the Chairman/ MD, Chrisnak Group of Companies, Chief Chris Odinaka Igwe,
the Executive Chairman, Umunneochi, Chief Ifeanyi Madu, the House of Rep. Candidate for Isuikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Barr. Loveth Ofoegbu, the House of Assembly Candidate for Umunneochi State Constituency, Chief Fabian Nwankwo, thanked Professor Ikonne for this rare privilege, with a promise to galvanize maximum support for the victory of PDP come next year’s general election.
The DG, Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organisation, Barr. Chinedum Elechi, led other members of the Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organisation, to accompany Professor Ikonne on the visit.
