Yesterday, people from all over the world gathered to bid farewell to the late Obinna Nwafor, widely known as Saint Obi, a veteran actor from Nollywood. The solemn occasion will take place in his hometown, Alaenyi Ogwa, Imo state. Saint Obi peacefully passed away on May 7, 2023, at the age of 57 in Jos.

Saint Obi, a distinguished graduate in Theatre Arts from UniJos, left an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry. He showcased his talent and versatility in various movies, including Sakobi, Last Party, Candle Light, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime, State of Emergency, and Goodbye Tomorrow, among many others.

The late actor began his career in 1996, catching the attention of audiences with a Peugeot television commercial. He soon became a household name, starring in over 90 movies throughout his illustrious career. In 2001, Saint Obi took on the role of a producer for the film Take Me to Mama, where he also portrayed the character of Jerry alongside renowned actors such as Ebi Sam, Rachel Oniga, Nse Abel, and Enebeli Elebuwa.

Born in Port Harcourt, Saint Obi will be laid to rest today, bringing an end to a life that has touched the hearts of many. As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember him for his passion, talent, and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
