The Movement for the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has congratulated Nigerians on this year’s independence day celebration and Bayelsans on the 23rd anniversary of the state creation.
This was released in a press briefing by the National Secretary of MOSIEND, Amb. Winston Cotterel Amain, who also doubles as the coordinator of Nigeria Youths Decides (NYD), Bayelsa state, in commemoration of this year’s independence day celebration.
Amb. Amain who was critical about the current happenings in the politics of Bayelsa State, asserted that Bayelsans are neither APC, APGA,PDP, or any other political party. But that Bayelsans are Ijaws who only agreed to be members of political platforms to get elected with the sole aim of serving Bayelsans and Nigerians in general.
The MOSIEND scribe bemoaned the recent political events in the State, where some persons have turned themselves into demigods over every other person, hiding under political parties, to the detriment of the wishes and aspirations of the people of Bayelsa State.
Amb. Amain asserted that, even though all the Gubernatorial Candidates are qualified, the processes leading to their emergence, undermine the collective interest of majority party stakeholders.
According to Amain” if the duo of Douye Diri and David Lyon had work on their own to be flag bearers of their parties, the dissenting voices would have been minimal or totally avoided.
The MOSIEND leader advice Bayelsans to look beyond APC and PDP in the forthcoming Governorship election. Noting that, no party is an Ijaw party as those who promote divisions based on party lines, do not have Bayelsans at heart.
The Youth activist, while appraising the gains of the present administration, opines that Bayelsa is the worst under developed State looking at the huge Revenue accrued to the State since its creation.
Amain stated that Bayelsans have been groaning and gnashing their teeths, under the draconian rule of past and present administrations. Hence we must do it right this time.
The Peace Ambassador, says it is laughable that we keep doing the same mistakes in electing who becomes Governor of Bayelsa State and expect a Messiah. He admonished Bayelsans to vote rightly, come November 16.
In his words “I have been on ground and I know what we are passing through, I stand with my conscious and my conscious seeks a total paradigm shift from the present order.
The MOSIEND leader maintains that nobody is against PDP or APC or the other 43 political party candidates but that Bayelsans need not to drink from the bitter waters that have been served them in the last 23 years.
Amb. Amain calls on Bayelsans to ask candidates to come up with a blueprint of 20 years developmental plan, with a 4 years foundation plan, which will determine their choice of candidate. Insisting that only those with Vision to develop the State will be voted, come November 16.
