The Abia State Command of the Man O’ War has reacted to the news of the arrest of their men. In its official statement, the command said that the gang who impersonated personnel of the EFCC are not their men, as no such names are found on their record.

Recall that over the weekend, police officers from the CPS Umuahia arrested three men: Onyedikachi Ihechukwumere (25 years); Onwuka Christopher (26 years) and Tochukwu Obinna (30 years) who were said to be from the Man O’ War Base of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

The statement issued by Michael Gift, the Administrative Officer of the command, stated that while the Command commended the Abia State police for their swift response which led to the arrest of the gang, the criminals who were arrested impersonated the personnel of the Man O’ War also, noting that the names are strange to the Man O’ War.

Part of the statement reads: ‘We commend the Abia Police Command for their swift response which led to the arrest of the gang. But we must quickly point out that the names: Onyedikachi Ihechukwumere, Onwuka Christopher, and Tochukwu Obinna are strange to us, and not on our record. It is obvious that they also impersonated the personnel of the Man O’ War as much as they impersonated the EFCC. We, therefore, call for further investigation of the matter by the police as well as the prosecution of the criminals to serve as a deterrence to others.’
