The global family of Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) commend the efforts of Igbo Sons and Daughters, and other pro- Biafra groups, Human Right defenders, and lovers of freedom who have called for the unconditional release of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU who is illegally detained by the Nigeria Government in DSS solitary confinement for almost two(2) years now.

We wish to commend the persistent calls for the release of Mazi Nnamdi KANU from persons like Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mba, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Barr. Kanayo .O. Kanayo, and others. Moreso, the recent call from newly elected Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah and his personal visit to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the release of Mazi Nnamdi KANU is welcomed by the IPOB family WORLDWIDE.

These individuals and groups whose efforts were done in the open and behind closed doors for the unconditional release of  Mazi Nnamdi KANU from the DSS dungeon are all noted and appreciated by IPOB family worldwide.

In Nigeria today, Mazi Nnamdi KANU remains the only political prisoner held unconstitutionally in custody without charge because he is an Igboman. The main reason for his persecution and illegal incarceration is because he is an Igbo Biafran fighting for the freedom and wellbeing of his people.

Self- Determination is legal and supported by the United Nations Laws and by the Africa Union Charter. It is an inalienable right of the Indigineous peoples to pursue their own political, economic, cultural and social future. Mazi Nnamdi KANU was illegally abducted in Kenya, extraordinarily renditioned to Nigeria, and held in solitary confinement for 2 years because of his request for a United Nation supervised Biafra referendum.

In Nigeria, Igbo Biafrans have become an endangered species who are discriminated against, profiled, and slaughtered like chicken by the Nigeria murderous Security Agents, yet the same Nigeria Government criminalized the IPOB leader and members for peacefully seeking to chat a political future for Biafrans as enshrined in UN and African Union Charters. Who beats a child and stops him from crying? Who does that?

The Nigeria Government has demonstrated hatred and disdain against Ndigbo by illegally holding onto this Igbo illustrious son without charge. Mazi Nnamdi KANU and other IPOB members in various detentions even after the Nigeria Courts have Ordered for their release are still being held without explanation from the Nigerian government. Therefore, it has become necessary for all Igbo sons and daughters to come out in unison to demand for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi KANU and others from DSS custody.

Nigeria has become a pariah state because of the hatred it has for Ndigbo and for their morbid fear of a free and independent Biafran nation. The continuous illegal detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will bring tribulations and anarchy to Nigeria, particularly to the Eastern Region politicians. Biafra Referendum request from IPOB is non-negotiable. The earlier Nigeria government calls for a discussion for a referendum date and conditions, the better for all of us. If after referendum Biafrans vote YES to exit Nigeria, Biafra and Nigeria can still be good neighbors.

Our request for Independent State of Biafra is not out of hatred for others but for self-preservation and reclamation of racial dignity.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL, MEDIA, AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.
