Family Declares Abia Top Civil Servant and Director in Abia State Fire Service, Chief Okey Ogbonna Missing, Fingers Internal Family Dispute

The family of Chief J J Ogbonna, a retired teacher and former Catechist of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Umuosu, Umunna Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa Ngwa North LGA, Abia state has been thrown into panic and agony. It’s not about the socioeconomic situation of the country, neither is it about any natural disaster, but the whereabout of their son, brother, Father and husband, Chief Okechukwu Ogbonna, popularly called ” Chief Arufuoaku”, who has gone missing without any trace for the past three days.

According to the Elder brother, also a top Abia state civil servant and former General Manager, Abia State Water Board, Engr. Leo Chiemela Ogbonna who spoke with www.newsmirrorng.com on Monday 29 April, 2024, the missing Chief Okey Ogbonna left the comfort of his house in Umuahia, where he resides with his family to attend a burial in his village, Umuata, Umuosu Nsulu Autonomous Community on Friday 26 April, 2024. Shortly after his arrival at the burial venue, someone whispered to him that he is being targeted by some community people, based on a land matter that was pending both at the zone 9 Police station, State Criminal Investigation Department ( CID),Umuahia and the Courts. Engr. Ogbonna said, on getting the disturbing report, his younger brother, according to him, left the burial venue after reporting the strange message to one of his other brother, Chief Charles Ogbonna. However, he has not made it home since that Friday, neither are his phone numbers going through, fueling speculations that he may be in trouble, as he has never been incommunicado like this, all his life.

The family has since reported the matter to Okpuala Ngwa Police Division, according to Engr. Leo Ogbonna, his Elder brother. He also said, he had drawn the attention of the Nigeria Police, zone 9, and the state Criminal Investigation Department ( CID), all the departments handling the family land dispute over their palm plantation that was invaded by some members of his community, over this strange occurance as he is pointing accusing fingers to Umuata Community Leaders, Umuosu Nsulu.

The family is equally worried that, if it was a case of kidnapping for ransom, they could have gotten in touch with the family but as at the time of going to press, nothing has been heard about their beloved brother, son father and husband, who left house since April 26, 2024. The wife and children have been in sober mood for the past three days, awaiting the arrival of their bread winner, all to no avail.

The 54 – year – old Chief Okechukwu Ogbonna, is happily married with four Children.
