Ifeanyichukwu Pius, a Nigerian national, swallowed 12 capsules of cocaine during arrest in India, and purged the drugs at a hospital after five days on Monday, January 18.
He was arrested from outside a prominent five-star hotel in the area based on a tip off received during the interrogation of another suspect.
Ifeanyichukwu swallowed the capsules containing 12 gm cocaine he had kept in his mouth as NCB officials started frisking him.
He was rushed to hospital where a CT scan and X-ray was conducted to confirm the presence of contraband.
Doctors initiated the process of purging the cocaine capsules without wasting any time since the bursting of contraband could prove fatal for him.
It took the doctors five days to retrieve the 12 capsules containing a gram of cocaine each from Ifeanyichukwu’s body.
According to NCB Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede in a statement: “This is the first kind of case where a peddler is carrying drugs in his mouth and distributing them.”
He will soon appear in court. This offence attracts heavy penalty in india.
