The Abia PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Barr. Okey Igwe has assured some selected groups of women in Umunneochi LGA thatthe incoming administration of Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne would renew their faith in the governance of Abia State.
Barr. Okey Igwe gave the assurance in his hometown, Amuda, Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA while meeting with some selected groups made up of disenchanted, disengaged and marginalized women. He described those group of women as the silent majority of Umuneochi.
The Abia PDP Deputy Governorship candidate stated that Prof. Ikonne’s administration would ensure their full participation in governance and deliver good governance at all levels in the State. He thanked them for throwing their weight behind the Uche Ndi Abia Campaign project and urged them to remain resolute in their decisions.
The women, who had a splendid time with Barr. Okey Igwe said that they do not identify with any party but disclosed that they got together to support the Ikonne/Igwe ticket because they were greatly excited at the prospect of Umuneochi LGA producing a Deputy Governor for the first time ever. They commended PDP for nominating their son to the position of Deputy Governorship candidate, saying that they would do all within their powers to ensure Prof. Uche Ikonne emerges the next Governor of Abia State with their son as his Deputy.
