Abia born businessman, and father of two, Mr. Nkemjika Nwogu, popularly called MAJO was full of life as at yesterday, thursday, 15th day of February, 2024.

Little did he know that he was spending his last day on earth as his young life was cut shot by trigger happy Navy officers at Nbawsi outpost, Isiala Ngwa North, LGA, Abia state.

Our reporter who went to the scene of the incident gathered that, Mr. Nkemjika Nwogu, whose wife gave birth on December 31st, 2023 for his second baby had a business deal with one Emeka, from Ossa, Umuahia.

The said Emeka had approached the late Nkemjika to buy his fairly used tricycle ( keke) last December for N250, 000 = 00. Mr. Nkemjika we gathered made a deposit of N40, 000 = 00, to enable him do some investigation to know the source of the tricycle which the said Emeka claimed was his personal property.

In other to safeguard his money and the tricycle, both of them agreed to park the said tricycle with one Mr. …. alias, Eluigwe.

The late Mr. Nwogu we gathered, was not too sure of the source of the keke as Emeka was not coming forth with proof of ownership but was disturbing him for the balance.

The late Mr. Nkemjika Nwogu alias MAJO, decided to let go the keke but insisted that the new buyer must come to the house of Mr. Eluigwe who the keke was parked in his house, an action he took so he could recover his deposit.

Emeka as gathered by our reporter, went to the Navy outpost at Nbawsi to reported that his keke was stolen and has been sighted in a house. We gathered that the Navy people joined him, stormed the house of Mr. Eluigwe at Umuezenta, Nbawsi, recovered the keke, also arrested the custodian, Mr. Eluigwe and brought them back to their temporary base, a town hall close to the house of Late Jaja Wachukwu.

Emeka was advised to call Mr. Nkemjika, to tell him that he has seen a buyer for the keke, requesting his presence so he could collect his deposit after the transaction. It was at this point that Nkemjika, who was planning to leave for PH that yesterday, left his house, a few distance away from the Navy outpost with a commercial motorcycle, and on getting to the Navy outpost, he was asked to come down, which he did. He was however surprised to see the keke Napep, Emeka and Mr. Eluigwe at the Navy temporary office.

He was said to have, out of fear, taken to his heels but was shut down by a Naval Officer. Sensing that his life is in danger, the Navy officers rushed him to the Central Hospital Nbawsi. Our reporter gathered that, he died before getting to the hospital.
