The Supreme Court sitting in Abuja has this afternoon dismissed the Motion for Review of judgement filed by the Labour Party and Darlington Nwokocha, the sacked Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District just as the Appeal Court threw away the motion when it was brought before it.

A release by Hon. Elder Abraham Amah,Abia PDP Vice Chairman/Acting State Publicity Secretary says, “following the Appeal Court judgement that sacked Darlington Nwokocha and restored the mandate of Col. Austin Akobundu as the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, the Labour Party and Darlington Nwokocha had approached Appeal Court and asked it to review its judgement that removed him from office, despite knowing that the Appeal Court has final jurisdiction on the matter, and the Appeal Court dismissed the motion and awarded a fine of Five Million Naira against Darlington Nwokocha and his Counsel to be paid to Distinguished Senator Austin Akobundu of the PDP.

Not satisfied with the dismissal of their motion seeking for a review of the judgement by the Appeal Court, Darlington Nwokocha and Labour Party approached the Supreme Court for a review of the Appeal Court judgement and the apex court has this afternoon also dismissed the motion and awarded a fine of N2m against Darlington Nwokocha to be paid to Senator Austin Akobundu.

The seek for the review of the judgement is one in a series of desperate measures by the Labour Party to put the Judiciary in disrepute. It has also become a penchant for the Labour Party to be selective in their acceptance of judgements of the Judiciary. It is ridiculous and speaks to the selfishness of the Labour Party to praise the Judiciary once a judgement is in its favour and disparage the Judiciary when a judgement goes against it.

The final dismissal of the review sought by the Labour Party and Darlington Nwokocha has ended the futile desperation of the duo and is another victory for the PDP, Senator Austin Akobundu, the good people of Abia Central, the Judiciary and our democracy.

We use this opportunity to reaffirm our faith and trust in the Judiciary as the last hope of the common man and one of the strongest pillars of our democracy.

We call on members of the PDP and the good people of Abia State to trust in the ability of the PDP leadership to always work to strengthen our democracy.

Once again, congratulations Distinguished Senator Austin Akobundu, the good people of Abia Central Senatorial District and Abians in general.
