The Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Associate Professor Hagler Okorie has announced the establishment of Abiapoly Micro – Finance Bank, which will soon take – off and on record time.

Prof. Okorie made this revelation during his address at the 7th to 18th convocation ceremony of Abia state polytechnic Aba, on Friday 12th May, 2023 at the school pavilion for the award of Higher National Diplomas and fellowship to the graduands of the school and deserving Nigerians.

Prof. Okorie, who has earned himself a name, just few weeks after he was appointed the Rector of the school reveals that, the Aba based citadel of learning has already entered into agreement with a ready investor for the establishment of the Microfinance bank.

Prof. Hagler Okorie who has unknowingly earned himself a sobriqent, ” The Jinx Breaker”, after he pull – off an 11 years of convocation stagnation of the school ( 2010 to 2023) said the bank already has an impressive customer base for a smooth take – off as the staff, student and indeed the Aba populous community will identify and patronise the bank.

He added that, the payment of staff salaries, students school fees, and other dues are to be paid through the bank when fully operational.

The Rector reiterated his resolve to exploit to the fullest, other alternative sources of funding as over dependent of government is going out of fashion.

Prof. Okorie boasted that the graduates of Abia state polytechnic are excelling in their various fields nationally and internationally as some of them are software developers for Microsoft, and said that such feat can only be achievable if students are well – tutored.

The Rector therefore calls on stakeholders which includes but not limited to parents, guardians, graduands and indeed the general public to partner with the school to make it a citadel of learning of our dream, that all Abians would be proud of, to call their own now and in future.
