The former Speaker of Abia state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Okechukwu Azubuike has reacted to the news making the rounds that the Abia state PDP Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu bought nomination forms and sponsored all the seven APC governorship aspirants during the 2019 election.

This followed the interview Chief BB Apugo granted to SUN NEWSPAPER, in which the Ibeku High Chief in that interview, had alleged that all the aspirants were sponsored by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The former Speaker said, “ordinarily i could have kept quite but on a second thought, i decided to open up so that people cannot misconstrue my silence as an acceptance”

Rt. Hon. Azubuike in a statement made available to news men said the allegation is laughable and does not in any way represent his character content and political philosophy.

The former Speaker said, he has great respect for Chief Apugo and would never insult him nor disrespect his person but added that; this his blanket allegation is false as he didn’t get his facts right. ” If indeed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu bought forms for some aspirants, i am not in the know, i still doubt it, but be assured that Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike is not and cannot be one of them.

Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike maintained that he never had any contact with the Governor and that he could not have funded him in the first place. Rt. Hon. Azubuike said, all the money he expended during his quest to rewrite the sorry story of Abia were 100% funded by him.

He therefore admonished the party leaders in Abia to desist from actions that will end up inflicting injury to the party in the state, insisting that Abia has not gotten to it’s destination in terms of socioeconomic development and believe that APC has all it takes to move Abia forward which can only be achieved when the party is united.
