Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai, has accused Uba Sani, the state governor, of being away from his responsibilities and hibernating in Abuja.
Bashir also accused Sani of surrounding himself with incompetent aides appointed for political patronage. Instead of admitting its incompetence, the Uba Sani administration has resorted to raising alarm on a debt burden inherited from the El-Rufai administration.
Governor Sani claimed to have inherited a huge debt burden of $587m, N85bn, and 115 contractual liabilities from the El-Rufai administration, making it difficult for him to pay workers’ salaries.
In response to the claim, Bashir El-Rufai berated Sani and his team, accusing them of incompetence, contract inflation, and Forex speculation. He asked why they were using the debt burden as an excuse for their poor performance. Bashir responded by stating that he was the Senator from Kaduna who lobbied and approved the loans.
