Some members of the main opposition party, the PDP of Abia state 8th Assembly have frowned at the way the clerk of House, Mr John Pedro Irokansi prevented them from making nomination during the election of the principal officers of the House, describing his action and as premeditated and grossly unprofessional.

Recall that earlier today newsmirrorng.com has reported of crisis disrupting the election of Principal Officers of Abia State House of Assembly.

Some House of Members who spoke in condition of anonymity to our correspondent expressed disapproval with the way things played out, and decried the action as capable of derailing our democratic process as it is clearly against the tenets of equity, justice and fairplay

It was obvious to all that were present that during the nomination of the Deputy Speaker, a member from Ohafia North State Constituency, Hon. Mandela Egwuruonwu Obasi raised his hands but was ignored by the Clerk of the House.

As two members of PDP, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu and Hon. Mandela Obasi moved towards the Clerk in protest, the Clerk quickly hit the gavel, signifying the end of nominations and continued the process of electing the Deputy Speaker. This caused an uproar in the chambers that lasted for about 5 minutes, after which he continued with the election process.

Efforts to reach the clerk of the House proved abortive as his phone were all switched off.
