In a surprising turn of events, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Of Nigeria, has made a strategic move by effectively handing over the reins of Rivers APC to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

This move comes as the APC National Working Committee (NWC) dissolves the executives of all factions within the Rivers APC and appoints Tony Okocha as the caretaker chairman.

Tony Okocha, a notable APC Chieftain, had earlier been appointed by Tinubu as a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), representing Rivers State. Notably, Okocha threw his support behind Governor Sim (PDP) in the last election.

This decision seems to signify a calculated political maneuver by Tinubu, who has now technically handed over control of the Rivers APC structure to Wike.

The National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, officially announced the dissolution of all factional executives after a crucial meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

As part of the restructuring process, Tony Okocha has been designated as the chairman of the newly formed seven-man caretaker committee. The inauguration of this committee is set to take place on Friday, officiated by the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The implications of this strategic move will likely have far-reaching consequences in the political landscape of Rivers State, setting the stage for an intriguing power play between the APC and PDP.
