Culture is lexically defined as the customs and beliefs, art, way of life and social organization of a particular country or group.Summarily, culture and traditions define who we are, and are a unique way of recognizing and identifying a particular nation,a people or group.
A nation or a people without culture could be defined as one lost.
This is why the dearth of the culture and traditions of Nsulu ancient nationality has remained quite worrisome to a lot of our people, especially those who have traveled far and near, and have discovered that a lot of countries and organized group of people, including Israel, still uphold and practice their culture and traditions periodically.
Nsulu nation, made up of Thirteen autonomous communities, more than 350,000 indigenes and about 34,000 registered voters, eight electoral wards(Inec/Absiec),the acclaimed political headquarters of Ngwa nation, a onetime State constituency of Abia State and Local Government Council headquarters.First to enjoy electricity in Isiala Ngwa North, Railway services, telecommunications, daily market, postal services, palm produce marketing board, several educational institutions, including Teachers Training College and NYSC orientation camp, just to mention but a few,has remained a people who have overtime lost her identity, culturally.
And this is largely a consequence of the perception of every of our culture as evil and satanic. Yes, in the past, it was said that some fetish sacrifices were carried out before the exhibition of some cultural activities. But with the advent of Christian religion, those practices that challenged our faith, have been completely dismantled and destroyed and jettisoned.Today, the display of cultural activities have therefore become one for mere entertainment.
It is in this perspective, that NSULU NATION,through NSULU VANGUARD,a socio-cultural association,is inviting all her people, friends, in-laws,acquantances and well wishers, within and in the diaspora,to come join us, as we rekindle the harmless cultural displays of NSULU NATION.
Our children will, perhaps, for the very first time, witness what our culture is all about.
There will be wrestling competitions, beautiful and colourful march pass by all our women, ward by ward.Traditional musicians, dancers and displays by our native men and women.Harmless masquerades, and several other non destructive/fetish cultural exhibitions. It promises to be an experience of a lifetime.
