I have just listened to the vituperations and denigration of a sitting Senator against a sitting Governor,and I felt deeply disappointed. My disillusionment did not emanate from his unwarranted and unguided outburst, but largely because other distinguished senators,especially the Senate President, allowed him to empty his wrongly piled up arsenal against an innocent person without a reprimand,even after Senator Abaribe denied ever lampooning Governor Bello.The level of laceration by Adeyemi against Governor IKPEAZU,only proved that he had been nursing unjustifiable grudges against him secretly.
Even if Abaribe insulted Governor Bello,a much refined,nurtured,responsible, respectable and diplomatic Senator would not have directly heaped such undeserving attack and disrespect to Dr Ikpeazu,a serving Governor.And if Adeyemi has any modicum of civility, he should have swallowed his pride and apologized to Dr Ikpeazu,and Abians immediately Senator Abaribe denied ever speaking ill of Gov Bello. Adeyemi should be told that he did not insult Dr IKPEAZU, as a person, but the government of Abia State,and its people.Including the past Governors that he equally labeled drunkards.
And the most annoying thing is that the hallowed chamber quietly stood by,especially the past Governors of Abia State,who watched their own Governor being unjustifiably denigrated by a less fancied personality like Adeyemi. Today,it is Dr Ikpeazu,but tomorrow it may be another person.An injury to one remains an injury to all.Every right thinking Abian or Nigerian should rise up and condemn this ugly development, party affiliation notwithstanding.
