*In the matter brought by High Chief Ikechi Emenike and All Progressives Congress (APC) against the first (1st) to seventh (7th) Respondents, Chief Acho Obioma (Chomen) who was the second witness on the third (3rd) Respondent’s schedule to be called on 16th, August, 2023; agreed under cross-examination that the document he tendered has neither date nor signature.

*Chief Obioma (Chomen) who was a Star witness for Mr. Alex Otti (3rd Respondent) and functioned as the Campaign Director General of Abia State Labour Party, tendered three (3) documents as his evidence before the Tribunal.

*The Star witness tendered a copy of a letter he said was Labour Party membership waiver to Alex Otti. He also tendered a copy of a letter written by Alex Otti notifying the APC of his resignation and finally, a purported monitoring report from Abia State INEC, Umuahia, authored by one Mr. Obinna.

*Upon cross-examination, Chief Acho Obioma agreed contrary to how official documents are made, that the said Monitoring Report which he tendered claiming that INEC monitored the Labour Party governorship primary election has no date and signature.

*However, It could be recalled that Abuja, National Headquarters of INEC, has hitherto confirmed to the Abia State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal through Certified True Copies of documents tendered by a subpoena witness, an INEC Legal Officer, that Labour Party Abia State did not submit their membership register and INEC did not monitor their governorship primary election.

*The first (1st) scheduled witness by the 3rd Respondent for today’s proceeding, who was Labour Party’s Obingwa LGA collation agent and the third (3rd) Witness, Mr. Alex Otti, were surprisingly absent. It is therefore curious as to why these supposed star witnesses disappeared in their own defence.

*Recall that High Chief Ikechi Emenike and All Progressives Congress (APC) as Petitioners in the suit challenging the declaration of Mr Alex Otti as winner of the 18th March, 2023 have INEC as (1st) Respondent; Labour Party, (2nd) Respondent; Mr. Alex Otti, (3rd) Respondent; PDP, (4th) Respondent; Chief Ambrose Okechukwu Ahiwe, (5th) Respondent; YPP, (6th) Respondent; and Hon. Chima Enyinnaya Nwafor, (7th) Respondent.
