The spate of insecurity in Abia State has taken a new dimension as Mr Joshua Chinemerem Chibueze, Engr Chinedu Onyeizu’s cousin, has been kidnapped in Umuahia.
Joshua Chinemerem Chibueze was kidnapped on Wednesday, 17th April, 2024 in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, as he was about making his way to his house after the close of work. Eyewitnesses said that the abductors accosted him at the gate of his compound at Ekenaobizi, Umuahia, and took him and his car and headed toward the Onu Imo axis, the boundary between Abia and Imo.
After several days, the daredevil abductors contacted the family and are demanding a ransom of #50m. The family hereby appeals to the Government of Abia State and the security agencies to expedite actions and ensure the safe return of the young father whose child dedication was supposed to take place today, Sunday, 21st April, 2024.
It could be recalled that not long ago, Prof Godwin Emezue, the DVC of Abia State University, was kidnapped in the same Umuahia and taken away toward the same Onu Imo axis. The recurring cases of kidnapping occuring at the state capital have injected fears in the residents and visitors to the state.
