Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Abia state chapter led by the Chairman, Mr. Promise Uzoma Okoro, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie psc, fwc, MNIM, fdc at the Command Headquarters Umuahia.

The purpose of their visit was to familiarize with the Commissioner of Police, collaborate with the Command in combating fake news and upholding lawfulness in the state.

During the meeting, the delegation commended the Commissioner of Police for his active engagement and proactive strategies in addressing media-related concerns.

The CP and his management team warmly welcomed the delegation, underscoring the indispensable role of the media in law enforcement activities. Emphasizing the necessity of mutual cooperation, he advised the media to diligently verify informations from the Police to prevent the dissemination of false information (fake news) .

Furthermore, the CP encouraged the media to promptly report instances of Police misconduct to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), thereby fostering transparency and accountability of Police officers in the Command.
