A group, made up of APC stakeholders in Abia State has identified Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike as the best person to occupy the position of National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC., at this time given the very urgent and critical need to unite and re-invent the party in Abia State.
The Stakeholders took the stance in Umuahia on Saturday while reacting to social media reports which claimed that that some individuals have nominated two persons from the State .
But reacting to the report, the Abia, APC stakeholders have vowed that Rt Hon Martins Azubuike, the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly deserves the position, based on his past experiences and exposure to national assignments in the APC.
According to one of the stakeholders who spoke with our reporter in a condition of anonymity, said, Azubuike was a 3-time legislator in Abia State House of Assembly Umuahia, during which he also became the Speaker of the Abia parliament as well as former Deputy Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, APC Governorship Aspirant to the party primary election in 2019. He would later become the Abia Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC during the 2019 general elections.
The stakeholders recalled the contributions of Azubuike to the victory of President Bola Tinubu in February 25th Presidential election, said he was the Abia State coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (ICC), Co-Director, Humanitarian Directorate, Project 774 for Tinubu/Shettima, Chairman, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Vanguard (BATS-Vanguard), as well as Abia State Coordinator of Jagaban National Coalition, JNC.
Apart from these, the Abia APC stakeholders said that the former Abia Speaker served as a member of Parliamentarian Directorate for Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the South East; Patron, Tinubu 4 Good Governance Movement ( T4GGM); Director of Strategy and Advisory Member, Ikechi/Gloria Governorship Campaign Organisation as well as a Member of APC Reconciliation Committee in Abia State.
” With all these contributions and experiences, we are surprised to observe that some persons in the party are trying to nominate some names that played no role in the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February election and have no political pedigree.
The Stakeholders advised the National Executive Committee, NEC and the National Working Committee, NWC of the party to go for the personality with experience and commitment, which they say, are found in Rt Hon Martins Azubuike.
They further explained that a sensitive position in the National ruling party should be held by a person that would add value to APC in the State and across the nation.
