Just 24 hours after he was honored by Rapid 96.5fm, Umuahia, as RAPID PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2023, the gold fish as the popular saying goes, has no hiding place as the Nigerian Television Authority, Aba has today December 8, 2023 honoured a man whose calling is service to humanity, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe, the Founder, Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation.
According to Engr. Ede Onubu, General Manager, NTA, Aba, ” The Meritorious Award as PHILANTHROPIST OF THE YEAR 2023 is in recognition of your outstanding services to humanity”
The award ceremony took place on December 8, 2023 at the prestigious Aba Sports Club complex.
He was represented by Chief MacDonald Ebere Okarter, Prince Clinton Uba and Chief Chibuzor Nworu.

Every generation comes with them, tales of great men who were born without the proverbial silver spoon.
Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe is one of these men. A man who, despite his humble beginning has made lifting others and impacting humanity a way of life through his unmatched philanthropy.
He was born on November 24, 1969 to the family of Pa Friday Omerekpe and Ezinne Eunice Omerekpe, both of blessed memory and hails from Umuakwu Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State.
Chief Omerekpe had his primary education at the Umuakwu Central Primary School and obtained his secondary education at Nelcin Secondary School Aba, before proceeding to Abia State University, Uturu, where he bagged a degree in History and International Relations.
As a lover of education, Chief Omerekpe didn’t stop there as he went ahead to add more to his academic portfolio – acquiring a BSc in Project Management. He has attended many International courses on management, amongst them is the one from prestigious London School of Economics.
Beyond these, he is a Certified Council Member; Chartered Institute of Project Managers and a Consultant to the Nigeria Senate Committee on Budget.
Chief Omerekpe is a multiple award-winner for his various contributions to community development, youth and women empowerment.
Being one of the foremost Abia philanthropists, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe has touched lives tremendously in different parts of the state with the number of projects he has attracted.
But like the old saying goes; charity begins at home; thus his immediate community of Umuakwu and environs had the initial taste of the fortunes.
Before now, Umuakwu was a neglected and an isolated community due the deplorable state of the roads and the devastations caused by soil erosions that be devilled the community – but these are now in the past as the community has witnessed a tremendous turnaround in both road infrastructure and provision of basic amenities like, the solar-powered water projects in all the nine kindred of Umuakwu, skills acquisition centres, town halls and equipping of the community health centre.
Some of the projects attracted by Omerekpe some of which have been completed include:
* Construction and asphalting of 17 kilometres of virgin roads ( Never in the history of Abia state has it happened by an individual effort)
* Construction of Skills acquisition centres,
* Building of primary and secondary schools
* Distribution of vehicles and motorcycles.
* Building of Civic halls
* Free Medical outreach across Abia state
Such other philanthropic gestures include:
* Equipping health care centres
* Distribution of Medical consumables across Abia state
* Award of scholarships to undergraduate students
* Distribution of rice and fertilizers to indigent members of communities
* Donations to charity organisations and physically challenged homes across Abia
* Empowerment Programme for widows, the youths and Elderly among many others, splashing hundreds of millions in all of these numerous services to humanity.
Curiously, all these have gone on unceasingly for the past 18 – years until 5 – years ago when the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation birthed to anchor and chronicle all these humanitarian activities.
The Ngwa born philanthropist and international business mogul has a chain of businesses cutting across consultancy, hospitality and Agriculture.
His companies/organizations include:

*Ncheta Global Resources Limited
*Ncheta Farms Limited
*The Omench American Hospital Limited
* Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation
All these are fully operational and successful organisations in Nigeria.
Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe has not held any elected political position in Abia before now. You can boldly say, he has no political baggage of any kind. That is why he speaks truth to power and very passionate in the progress of the state. This his personal resolve for a better Abia informed the role he played in the 2023 general ekecions, aimed to get Abia right and moving in the positive direction.
Following his contributions to humanity, Chief Omerekpe has been conferred with many chieftaincy titles as recognitions for his selfless services.
For the entire Ukwa la Ngwa Traditional Rulers Council, he is Odozi Obodo (the one who makes good, the community)
To his close associates, he is Onowu and to the larger Igbo Community any where in the world, he is called Ofo Ndi Igbo to others.
