Residents of Akumazi Umuocha in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, were on Thursday December 28, 2023, shocked when a 48-year-old man, Mr. Bazim Martins Chukwuji slumped and died while watching football at Umuocha Primary school, Akumazi Umuocha.
Many who knew and saw him that fateful day said nothing seem to have been wrong with the deceased, but said his death was still a mystery.
When Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter visited the bereaved family at Oduga Quarters, sympathisers and all who knew Bazim who came to pay their condolences to the family were all there.
Our Correspondent gathered that when the quadragenarian slumped on that fateful day, many who were there were said to have quickly made effort to take him to a nearby hospital, but said all their efforts yielded no positive result as he gave up before they could get to the hospital.
Those who knew late Bazim described him as hard working, respectful, honest, and quiet man whose simplicity is well known by many.
While no one could ascertain the actual course of late Bazim’s sudden death, some believe and attributed his death to high or low Bp (blood pressure), others believed his death was spiritually connected.
Late Mr. Bazim Martins Chukwuji, who before his demise was a keke driver, is said to have been survived by wife and children.
As at the time of filing this report, the body of late Bazim was still in the mortuary as the funeral arrangements have not been fixed.
