Monday the 12th day of December, 2022 will go down in history as the People’s Democratic Party, ( PDP) members, supporters and defectors from other political parties stormed Umuosu Central School, Umunna Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA to demonstrate that PDP is not only on ground but to re – affirm their support and loyalty to the party and assure of the victory of all the PDP Candidates as the mantra 5/5 rented the air, in support of all the PDP Candidates, from House of Assembky to the Presidency.
Speaking during the youth rally organised in support of PDP in Umunna Nsulu, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, ably represented by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahaiwe commended the people of Umunna Nsulu Ward 2 in Isiala Ngwa North LGA for their sustained support to his administration and the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
Gov. Ikpeazu was full of praises to the convener and sponsor of the youth rally, High Chief Boniface Ariekpere ( ONYE EZE), for his kind heart and thoughtfulness and described them as partners in progress, ensuring that his gesture has a place in Abia political history.
Chief Okey Ahiwe while described the PDP as the party to beat considering the array of quality and credible candidates it parades and charged the people of Umunna Nsulu Ward 2 to remain focused in their bid to actualize Prof. Uche Ikonne’s governorship ambition in the state and massive victory for all PDP candidates in 2023 general elections
In their speeches, the PDP candidate for Abia Central Senatorial zone, Col. Austin Akobundu ( Rtd), PDP Candidate for Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. A.C.B Agbazuere and candidate for Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Chief Collins Iheonunekwu (Ochake) thanked the people of Umunna Nsulu for their massive support as demonstrated by the organic crowd and assured them of quality representation.
Earlier , Chief Boniface Ariekpere, the convener and sponsor of the event said Umunna Nsulu Ward 2 is fully PDP.
High Chief Ariekpere, also called “Eze Ndi Igbo La Spain” vowed to use their numeric strength of Umunna Nsulu to deliver all PDP candidates.
Presenting a paper titled “Securing the future of Umunna youths through informed knowledge”, a former commissioner for Agriculture in the state, Chief Uzor Azubuike said the paper aims at reawakening their consciousness on the benefits of having the PDP Governorship candidate in the state from Nsulu land and the need to keep supporting Prof. Uche Eleazer Ikonne and all PDP candidates.
In his vote of thanks, Uche Ndi Abia Coordinator, Umunna Nsulu Ward 2, Dr. Christian Ugwumadu appreciated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his sustained support and commitment at ensuring that the next Governor in the state emerges from Isiala Ngwa North LGA in line with the policy of equity, fairness and justice.
In their contributions, the PDP candidate for Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, Hon. Ceaser Roland Chinwendu, PDP Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Chief Sam Esindu among others thanked Umunna Nsulu ward 2 PDP Members for the massive turnout and for galvanising support for the party.
The highlight of the event was cutting of the 2023 PDP victory cake by all the candidates and distribution of wrappers to indigent women and exercise books to schools in Umunna Nsulu
Others are the acceptance of decampees from Labour Party back to the PDP and the inauguration of PDP campaign council for Umunna Nsulu Ward 2.
