A mentally challenged man on Sunday stabbed a worshiper during deliverance at a church in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the lunatic had in the process of the deliverance allegedly picked up a cutlass from the church altar and gave a worshiper a deep cut.
It was also learnt that the owner of the church had been arrested following the incident.
A source said: “The man of God claimed he could heal the mad man and started praying.
“As the prayers were ongoing, the insane man during a struggle with the pastor and other members of the church picked up a cutlass from the altar and wounded one of the worshippers.
“The suspected unsound mind has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and medication.”
The relatives of the unsound man are said to have been invited for interrogation but effort to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, failed as his mobile line could not be reached.
