An Abia APC Chieftain, Lady Blessing Uwaoma Nwokonneya has expressed sadness following the unfortunate demise of Abia first civilian Governor, Chief Ogbonnaya Ọnụ whose news of his death filtered the airwaves last Thursday.
In an emotional condolence message made available to Newsmen, Lady Nwokonneya took a deep insight into the sterling and humane qualities of the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, describing his type as “few” and his rare qualities as “unparalleled”.
“He was a true definition of a real patriot, a genuine Nationalist with a detribalized mindset”, maintaining that his contributions and passion for the unity and development of Nigeria was invaluable.
Continuing, “What a collosal loss. Most painful is the fact that He left us a time his wealth of experience, contact and vast political connection is highly needed. He will be greatly missed”. She added.
Lady Nwokonneya recalled with nostalgia the several opportunities she had to meet with the late Statesman during her electioneering periods as the candidate of the APC, and the invaluable fatherly advice and financial support he gave her towards her election .
The Abia born technocrat and politician while praying God to grant the family, the Government and people of Ebonyi state and indeed the Nation the fortitude to bear such an irreparable and irreplaceable loss, also prayed God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.
