JUNIOR POPE : RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR ASSURES HONOUR FOR DECEASED NOLLYWOOD ACTOR, PRECIOUS OFURUM

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and Nollywood practitioners that deserving honor would be bestowed upon Precious Chimaobi Ofurum, a Rivers indigene tragically affected by the recent Asaba boat mishap, which also involved popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope.

During a visit to Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the Governor, represented by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke, expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the late actor and commended the solidarity demonstrated by the Nollywood community. Governor Fubara emphasized the exemplary nature of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum’s character, noting his dedication to Nigeria and his determination to succeed within the country.

“The passing of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum is indeed unfortunate, as he was already an exemplary Nigerian who demonstrated the success any determined person can achieve while remaining in the country,” stated Governor Fubara.

Highlighting his Administration’s commitment to supporting youth talent, Governor Fubara assured the bereaved family of appropriate recognition and support. He reiterated his dedication to making Rivers State proud and pledged to honor the memory of Precious Chimaobi Ofurum.

In his remarks, Mr Eric Stevenson, the convener of the solidarity visit, recounted the tragic incident that claimed the lives of several actors returning from a movie set in Asaba, Delta State. He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s response and hoped that the State Government would act swiftly to provide comfort to the bereaved family.
