High Chief Ariekpere draws the attention of Dr. Alex Otti to the plight of School for the blind, Umuahia

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, High Chief Dr. Boniface Ifeanyi Ariekpere Ajuzie has called on Abia State Government ably led by His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Oti OFR to come to the immediate assistance of the pupils, students and management of the School for the Blind Afara, Umuahia, Abia State.

The call was made during a visit by the Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation to the school where they donated various items including cash to assist the students in their day to day activities.

Citing the high cost of living in the country, and the difficulty for many Nigerian families to take care of their immediate needs and social economic challenges, Miss Dollaress Ajuzie, the General Administrative Manager of Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, said it’s most difficult and near impossible for the physically challenged to take care of themselves without the support and assistance from the government, public spirited Nigerians and organizations.

 

Speaking through the Director General, Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, Deacon Ahamefula, Chief Ariekpere  appealed to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, whom he described as a caring father and leader, who has dedicated his entire life in the public sector to personally visit the school to see for himself, believing that the visit will afford him the first hand details of the unfortunate plight of the school with the view to ensuring that they get the needed government attention.

Also speaking, Lolo Ijeoma Nwachukwu was of the opinion that the school needs portable water, toilets, braille, beds, food items, describing what was met on ground as an eye sore and described the school as unfit for human habitation, and worst for people that are physically challenged.

Responding, the Principal of the school, Mrs Benedicta Onyeogaziri thanked Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation for remembering Afara school for the Blind and their students, while appealing to well meaning citizens to emulate the gesture of High Chief Dr Boniface Ifeanyi Ariekpere Ajuzie in showing kove, care, sacrifice to the less privilege in the society most importantly the Oma Nma Foundation mantra of Life Saving and Health Care for the needy, while also calling for Abia state government attention.

Chairman/CEO, High Chief Ariekpere reiterated that, Oma Nma Foundation is dedicated to fostering positive transformation and sustainable development within communities, and the mission of the foundation is to empower people, impact lives, ignite hope, and drive change through comprehensive initiatives in education, healthcare, community development, women and youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and human rights advocacy.

” We are commited to have and inclusive collaboration, strive to build resilient, thriving societies where every individual has the opportunity to unlock their full potential to create a world where compassion, equality, and justice form the cornerstone of vibrant and harmonious communities”, he concluded.

Another key point of the visit was the award of scholarship by the Foundation to one Miss Favour, a student of the school.
