Miss Florence Vandi, a 22-year-old staff of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, reportedly committed suicide over her boyfriend’s death.
The tragic incident occurred on December 12, 2023. Florence took her own life by drinking a substance suspected to be poison called “otapiyapiya.”
The act reportedly took place a few hours after the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Florence, a health worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre, left a note indicating that she wanted to celebrate Christmas with her deceased boyfriend in heaven.
The police are investigating the incident.
