There are strong indications that the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia State, Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu (KSJI), could return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he left before the 2023 general elections, MUK TV can exclusively report.

This came as National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates of the APP, and the entire structure of the party across the 17 L.G.As of the state unanimously agreed after a meeting in Umuahia on Monday to collapse into the APC and follow the former Abia state Chief of Staff.

The strategic meeting, which was held at the party’s secretariat, was attended by Executives of the party drawn from the wards, L.G.As, and state levels.

Other attendees of the meeting were the 2023 National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates of the party.

Addressing his supporters at the meeting while disclosing what could be his next line of political action, Sir Kalu urged them to return to the APC and help rebuild the party at the state level.

“Let’s return to where we came from and contribute our quotas to the place we left.”

The return of Sir Kalu to the APC would bring an end to his short stint at the APP, a party he launched in Abia State in late 2021 and grew exponentially to become a force to be reckoned with in the 2023 elections.

Although the two-time APC House of Representatives candidate for Abia North/South Federal Constituency had left the party, alleging maltreatment and disunity, he assured his supporters that they would return to the APC as a bigger force than they were before.

“We are not going to return the same. Because what we accomplished in APP within a short time is uncommon.

“And we were not in government and had no national figure as a presidential candidate. So, you did something you should be proud of,” he said.

The APP structures in Abia State would be collapsed into the APC but as a distinctive and formidable structure of its own under the leadership of Sir Kalu.
