A Nigerian teacher based in the oil city of Warri in Delta State has lost her life in a ghastly motor accident while on her way to board a flight to the United Kingdom to spend time with her children.

The woman, a secondary school teacher in Ogbologbo Warri, whose name News Express could not immediately ascertain, had set out for Abuja, the Nigerian capital, to board her flight but the God Is Good (GIG) bus conveying her and other passengers had an accident at Afuze in neighbouring Edo State.

She was said to have boarded the bus around 6:00 a.m. penultimate Monday alongside another female passenger and the two were transferred to a brand new bus at the Benin City office of God Is Good Motors due to lack of passengers from Warri.

A survivor of the accident told News Express: “We were eight people in the bus as we set out from Benin for Abuja. Incidentally, the woman, whose husband is a pastor, prayed on behalf of everyone before the bus took off. She was going to the UK to see three of her children.”

On what caused the accident, the source disclosed that the driver was going at top speed when he saw a trailer coming from the opposite direction and instinctively swerved into the bush to avoid a head-on collision.

“The driver thereafter lost control and the bus plunged into trees, summersaulting several times before falling by the side, trapping us. I managed to crawl out from the window,” the survivor said.

She disclosed that the teacher was badly wounded and was taken to a hospital while the survivors were transferred to another GIG bus heading for Abuja.

“Unfortunately, before we reached Abuja, the driver informed us that the woman could not make it. I’m yet to overcome the trauma as the woman sat directly in the seat at my back,” the survivor lamented.
