There was mild drama today in Monrovia, Liberia as the newly elected president of the country, Joseph Boakai failed to complete his inauguration speech, as he suffered heart stroke.

Joseph Boakai, 79, was surrounded by aides and escorted from the ceremony which ended prematurely, reports BBC.

He was however earlier sworn in as president of the country following his election victory over former football star George Weah, with the challenge of tackling poverty and corruption.

The 79-year-old narrowly beat former Ballon d’Or winner Weah in November’s run-off poll with 50.64 percent of the votes to 49.36 percent.
