To the glory of God and to the shame of the devil Udensi Bernard was released yesterday from the police custody at Area command in Umuahia Abia State.
It was noted that on the 16th of January 2024 Udensi Bernard was illegal arrested by the Nigeria Police on a petition written against him by his elder brother on family matter that didn’t undergo police investigation or invitation of him for questioning at the police station.
This arrest took place 2:40pm on Tuesday at ABNTV where Udensi Bernard was a guest during a programme,Youth Rendezvous. As at the time of arrest no investigation,no invitation for questioning was made and they invaded to arrest Udensi Bernard.
Despite repeated plea by the staff of ABN TV to the officers for all the programme come to and end before the arrest,they insisted and struggled him out that made him fell off and hit his chest on the floor and broke his hand which also lead to damages of ABNTV equipments by the police men.
He was never charged for any crime before now nether was he on a run. We also put to the general public that Udensi Bernard has never been seen engaging in any from of crime or illegal activities be it whatsoever. This petition came just four days after his life was threatened.
The illegal arrest that involves lack of freedom of speech,human violation and human right expression didn’t undergo investigation or invitation for questioning. Most important when a critical issues about youth development were being discussed during the live TV broadcast.
From all indications the officers sent to carryout the arrest were not properly schooled on best approach to relate with civil populace when a petition is made.
On that note we sincerely send our appreciation to the Commsioner of Police Abia State who gave free hearing to Udensi Bernard and visited the scene where the arrest happened to see for himself the damages cost.
The commissioner of police used his good well office and gave a fair judgement without siding anyone. Is of a true that good people still exist in the police force.
Right from the arrest at ABNTV on Tuesday 16th 2024 Udensi Bernard was not given a freedoom to speak not until the commissioner of police stepped into the case the following day Wednesday 17th January 2024 The Abia Sate commissioner of police indeed acted in fairness. There’s peace and all necessary verification has been made.
We also want to appreciate member of the public and all followers,well wishes of Udensi Bernard for their care and show of love ,Udensi Bernard is currently at the hospital bed receiving treatment after the police brutality and will speak to his followers if fully recovered.
We also appreciate friends and families who came physically and took it upon themselves to see that justice stands.
