ABSU INDUCTS 27 NEW MEDICAL DOCTORS AT HER 27TH INDUCTION/ SWEARING IN CEREMONY

Twenty Seven (27) new Medical Doctors has been inducted at the 27th Batch B induction/ Swearing ceremony of graduating medical Doctors of the Abia State University.

In his opening remarks, the Vic Ie Chancellor and the Chairman on the occasion, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor O. M Ogbulu, congratulated the inductees for the dedication and patience of going through their training in the Medical Profession, which qualified them for induction into the Profession, pointing out that not all who started the race with them were successful.
He charged them to be good ambassadors of the University, stressing that Abia State University has all it takes to train Medical Doctors that can compete very favorably with their best colleagues within and outside the country.

Professor Ogbulu used the opportunity to thank God for the recovery of the Governor, and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, and prayed God for more strenght and grace as he pilots the affairs of the State.
He further expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Distinguished Professor E. Uche Ikonne, for his Unprecendented achievements in transforming the University, and support to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, (CMHS) which has positioned it among the best colleges of medicine in the country.

Presenting his address, the Dean, CMHS, Professor S. N Onwere commended the Vice Chancellor for his continued support especially for giving approval to hold the induction in the face of the current global challenge, while also thanking the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) Dr T A B Sanusi for personally coming to induct the graduating Doctors, an indication of his commitment to the Profession, and love to the University.

The Registrar, (MDCN) Dr T A B Sanusi, speaking before the swearing in of the new Doctors, charged the new Doctors to always practice in accordance with the rules and ethics of the Profession, as any breach will attract sanctions.
He reminded them that as they attend to patients, they should do so with the fear of God, noting that for whatever they do, people are watching and reports gets to the Council without their knowledge.
He pointed out that the reason why Nigerian Doctors are in high demand within and outside the Country is because of the quality training they receive, and therefore urged them to raise the banner of the sacrifice and quality service delivery of the Profession wherever they practice.

In a closing remark, the Dean, CMHS, Professor Chuks Kamanu thanked all who found time to come, especially the Vice Chancellor, Registrar of the Council and others, and prayed for journey mercies back to their various locations.

Highpoint of the event which held at the Emeritus Professor Frank Akpuaka Resource Centre of the College , Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) Aba, was the induction/ swearing in of the 27 brand new Medical Doctors, in strict compliance of all the COVID 19 protocols.
