Abia Labour Party Chieftain from Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia state has penned a letter to Abia state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti over what he described as cheap propaganda by his administration and channeling his energy to put down the achievements of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led immediate past administration.

Here is the full letter:

Dear Governor,

I’m a bit pleased that your young administration is fighting hard to impress the people within the shortest period of time.

I’m as well happy that you have grouped a cabinet and team not used to Abia in order to do a new thing while your leadership lasts.

I want to really point out certain issues that bothers on continuity of leadership of a state and not of a political party.

Firstly, last week, news had it that the First water fountain was built in Abia by your administration but that wasn’t the fact in Abia, there is one beautiful water Fountain at Obikabia Junction leading to the dualized Ururuka Road.

The Government of Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu copiously constructed that water Fountain and your administration inherited it as a liability (not profit yielding), a liability in the sense that it has to be constantly maintained by the current administration as a facility of the State and not as a facility of the past administration.

The culture of abandoning projects of previous administrations without maintenance and introducing similar new once just to score low the achievements of the past has remained the pillar of Infrastructural decay in Nigeria and Abia under your watch can make a paradigm shift from that obnoxious and old order of Political leadership.

Recently, Abia flagged off Abia Industrial and Innovation Park, a project likened to the vision of Enyimba Economic City.

I’m worried in my heart why the Enyimba Economic City that has gotten Federal Government approval and Financial pledge through the Efforts of the past administration should have been abandoned for the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park since the vision of the both is solely to creat a city of industrial and Innovation clusters with serene residential areas all geared towards the development of Abia State.

The reason for Transition Committees that receive handover notes from outgoing Governments for the new one is not solely to pick faults but as well to study programs and policies they nurtured but could not fully implement to the fullest or even start at all either for lack of resources or time frame.

If Government should indeed be a “CONTINUUM”, some positive and developmental ideas of the previous administration like the Enyimba Economic City that has gotten World Bank attention, Acquired too much land from Ukwa and Ugwunagbo people shouldn’t have been abandoned for a mini duplicate of it, The Abia Industrial and Innovation Park rather, should have been vigorously pursued into execution.

If all new Governments continue to overlook projects started by their predecessors, in the next 20yrs, Abia will become a harbinger of abandoned projects and it will end up amounting to waste of scarce resources both money and land of Abia People.

Let Government remain a CONTINUUM not just on paper and words but in practice.
